Above are a few photos of my place here in Brisbane, all neat and ready to be sold to a lucky buyer. With the river and ferry a few steps away, Oxford Street around the corner, the pool, the glorious gardens, it’s been easy to be content here. I enjoyed decorating with 99.9 percent thrift/secondhand store finds and am happy with the look I’ve created here. But it’s time to move on and head up the mountain to ‘home’, to the support of family and old friends, and to a place with space for out of town friends to stay over, and a garden, and room for arty activities, and (oh the excitement) a clothesline!
A Letter from Home by Mary Oliver
She sends me news of blue jays, frost,
Of stars and now the harvest moon
That rides above the stricken hills.
Lightly, she speaks of cold, of pain,
And lists what is already lost.
Here where my life seems hard and slow,
I read of glowing melons piled
Beside the door, and baskets filled
With fennel, rosemary and dill,
While all she could not gather in
Or hid in leaves, grow black and falls.
Here where my life seems hard and strange,
I read her wild excitement when
Stars climb, frost comes, and blue jays sing.
The broken year will make no change
Upon her wise and whirling heart; -
She knows how people always plan
To live their lives, and never do.
She will not tell me if she cries.
I touch the crosses by her name;
I fold the pages as I rise,
And tip the envelope, from which
Drift scraps of borage, woodbine, rue.

If I had the means, I'd buy it in a flash. What a beautiful home. Best of luck with your sale and your move to family and friends Chrisy.
All that gorgeous vibrant colour on a white pallet. What an eclectic collections of styles. I LERVE it. Prospective buyers will be wooed to love it and then when they arrive to take up residence will be inspired to colour it up like you.
"Up the mountain" where is that girl.
Good to hear from you after all this quiet. But there you are with you BIG life.
very good cheer

beautiful place, I'm sure you will find plenty of people that will want to buy it! I'm in love especially with the sitting room, beautiful light!
Somehow I knew your place would be amazing! I hope it sells fast to someone who will take great care of it like you did.
Cheers,
jj
Looks fantastic, good luck with selling it. It is funny the things you look forward to when moving from an apartment to a house. I'm in total agreement on the clothesline, and related - a full sized laundry, our apartment only had a euro laundry in the bathroom.
Blimey, I didn't think real people actually lived like this, was sure such spaces were the inventions of lifestyle magazines. I'd give up my clothesline any day!
How this poem packs a punch.
the photos are lovely, Chrisy, but they don't do it justice. It's such an awesomely interesting place!
We never did get to catch up again yet either! Where is up the mountain?
love me xxx
Lovely place! Love all the artwork you have displayed! ;)

we had the corner apartment in the emporium, lots of light like yours..

Wow what a wonderful home you created! How exciting to take all of your talent and ideas and start over in a place where you will have the love and support of your family - I am SO excited for you!!
your place is GORGEOUS!!!
Oh my goodness what a special place you had there! Love the way you've decorated it and the ferry and Oxford street being nearby make it sound like perfection. Still, it sounds like the time has come to move and I bet you do out your new place just as gorgeously! Have a lovely week sweetie! XOXO's
Wow! What a beautiful home! So bright and artsy. I love it. Good for you. :)
Sorry to hear you have to leave your place. Although, by the looks of it, you'll be able to redecorate with all of your amazing furniture, and all that great colourful art in anyplace you go, and make it feels just as homey!
Best of luck selling!
Wow, what a lovely place and so vibrant and confortable.
Must be hard for you to make the decision to packup and go, but follow your heart.
Hope it all goes well.
Take care, sweet person : )

Beautiful blog and wonderful home - good luck with your sale and impending move. Hope to see photos of your new habitat, including the clothesline! Lisa
your apartment looks very enticing - hope you sell.
And if it does not happen fast enough, the ex is an agent in the valley. He sells anything...

Chrisy,
Your place is amazing, so full of light and color! It looks like a place you've loved.
I understand wanting to move "up the mountain." We made a similar decision last year, and the whole process - from making the decision, to purging, packing, repairing and upgrading, showing, selling, buying, and FINALLY moving - took 7 months. We looked at, literally, dozens of places, about 50 in all. The one we chose, in the end, is so perfect for us it makes us laugh and gasp with joy every day.
I hope your move takes you to a place as perfect for you as Moss Hill is for us.
The poem is so lovely, I've saved it to my files. You'll probably see it on my blog one of these days.
One more thing - the want of a clothesline was one of the things that pushed me out of the city and up to Moss Hill. I totally understand the attraction. :)
