Miniature Gardens

Hobbit House by 1967 Geezer

I'm not sure why I’m featuring these little landscapes - tiny gardens with real plants. All I know is that I saw a photo of one and had to keep looking for more!

from Two Green Thumbs

I will build you a house
If you do not cry
A house little girl
As tall as the sky.

I will build you a house
Of golden dates
The freshest of all
For the steps and gates.

from Little Landscapes. Some instructions on their website here.

I will furnish the house
For you and me
With walnuts and hazels
Fresh from the tree.

Kelly Point House by The White Bear

I will build you a house
And when it is done
I will roof it with grapes
To keep out the sun.

Your blog never, ever fails to give me something to smile about. I love that little poem too, it's just about as sweet as the Hobbit House :)

Fascinating. I am currently on a tiny quest myself so I will check back and may link to this post.

Making these tiny environments gives people a complete self-controlled world, I believe, as opposed to the larger world which is not always so tractable.

These are fantastic. I've just begun a new line of Timid Monsters in jar habitats, and while making them, I've wished they could be with real plants and things.

Maybe I'll have to give it a try.

Oh they are so fun! How could you not look for more?! I have a smallish indoor plant conservatory into which I made a park with "trees", a bench, a greenhouse. But now I just have pots of plants in it.

This is a great way for someone to have a garden even if they haven't got the space for a really big one.

These little gardens are so cute. They remind me of one I created, with succulents, in the upturned lid of an old pottery casserole dish, when I was about ten. I used shells and rocks to create bridges and match sticks for fences. I'd forgotten all about it until I saw your wonderful post. Thanks for the memories.

I love these little gardens! They're adorable. I'm getting ready to do some macro shots with little landscapes and I can take inspiration from the masters. :)

They are so cute. I think my Bonsai plants need a bit of treatment. I remember seeing a book about this long ago...pretty sure they were called 'Funsai' (fun bonsai) but a recent google search pulls up nothing. Bon(sigh)

These are fairy gardens if there ever were any. I would like to be a fairy with her own little Air Stream. Lovely enchanting post!
