Flying carpets / rugs....they're out there...

Photobucket
from Ceccialdi

They're out there. Rugs zooming off to new owners. Not necessarily with little poppets hitching a ride, but flying about nonetheless. Yes a new rug is only a mouse click away. Have a look at these beauties from Buyster Rugs. They're not expensive. They follow ethical trading practices. And I can tell you from personal experience that their service is fantastic. Try CSN Rugs if you're in the US.

For more lovely rugs, real works of art, do a bit of mouse clicking over at Etsy. Left to right, Crocheted Rug from Sago on Tuesday, Faux Bearskin from Fringe Collection, Handwoven Recycled Wool Sweater Rug from Five Forty, Nunofelted Rug / Wallhanging from Vilte, Handpainted Floor Cloths from Dwagonflies

Of course you could whip up your own floor covering like these below. I know the next two aren't technically 'rugs' but I couldn't resist sharing these clever ideas. This first pic makes me yearn for a cement floored studio where I could splatter paint about.

Photobucket

Here's one that's been painted onto a wooden floor by clever Genevieve Gail, with some tips on doing your own.

Or paint a rug of your own in any design and color that your heart desires. In this one a piece of vinyl/linoleum is flipped, and painted on. There are instructions here if you want to try it yourself.

Whether your rug comes to you flying through cyberspace, or flying from your fingers, keep your landing pad cleared and ready! And if your still hangin about here from the Halloween Party and giveaway in the prior post, be careful taking off on your broom; there are obstacles about...

I so wanted to do our concrete floor in bright colours when we moved in but alas Mr Jettas Nest loves a good ol' fashioned neutral colour so it's baby poop brown all the way here.....I'll be showing him this pic though...might twist his arm :)

my hubs is rug crazy so although I like them too HE gets to pick out our rugs and his taste runs to the traditional - hmmmmmm maybe something fanciful is in order for my powder room... why yes, I believe it is!!

Oh I adore the red rose rug! How lovely that would be in a lounge room. And that yellow painted floor is quite amazing. I also spied the gorgeous chair in that last photo, i wish i had one of those for my bedroom.

Sylvia Plath! I'm so with her there - although I think people do that anyway, don't they - they bring their own life and experience to any piece...I love those plush rugs - I'd love to take my shoes off and shuffle all over them!! That last room and rug are so nice!!

thank you for sharing these splendid rugs:)

Oh yes, they make you wish you had a huge castle so that rugs could be flung about willie nillie, and floors painted on a whim, with somebody else to clean them of course, and a good looking man to lay on them with in front of those open fires...

There is nothing like a good rug under your feet! I would so love a cabin so that I could throw one over the sofa like in the pics. The painted ones bring me to the beach house...so many to choose from!

I'll just have to vote for the feathers--and you can throw in the snake plant from another photo too.

The splatterpaint on the floor reminded me of two things: Isaac from Heroes, and awesomeness. Talk about inspired art! *note to self for future dream home*

It would be cool to have a splatter paint floor, but I think that would be too much for hubby:)
Also, I love the rug with the feather print and the roses print!

I realised that you were not on my bloglist for some time, but today you appeared again!

Forgive me while I gush over that splendidly adorable puppy for a movement, awwwwwwwwww!!!

Delightful, dreamy, wonderful post, sweet soul, I've always wished magic carpets were real. It would be unimaginably lovely to zip around the sky like a bird for any time you fancied.

Wishing you a marvelous & serene weekend, honey!

such a perfect thought by Plath and quote from Fitzpatrick. I have often thought that. Art is a living entity that gives birth to yet more art, be it the art of interpretation, feeling, or expression.
The cement floor is wonderful and the polka dot linoleum is fabulous!

Your post overwhelms me! I want to take some in my home in Naperville. Carpet cleaning it will take some time but it doesn't matter! I would like to have it. I would get some help from a carpet cleaning (Naperville area) just to have those lovely carpets.
