Giveaways, Markets n Thrift Shop Booty

I’ve been lucky enough to win some giveaways over the last few months and wanted to share them with you. Look at him…isn’t he just the cutest little fellow…when I touch his heart it lights up and flashes. What girl wouldn’t be smitten. Valentine came to live here from Urbandon, also know as ‘the Beautiful One’ by his equally talented sidekick Grrl. The Beautiful One sells some of his assemblage art on Etsy, and shares his now hectic life on his blog.

Who doesn’t like vintage tins, and the fab covers on old LPs, or oodlies of crafting and arty supplies? Well we all love them of course so I know you’ll love Tinniegirl. Lucky me won a giveaway over at Cathy’s blog and received not one but two prizes! First, the aptly named ‘Luckie’, a gorgeous handmade box made from old LP covers filled with goodies. There’s old book pages, children’s book illustrations, atlas pages, game pieces, a little roll of wallpaper, vintage cards, stamps and lots more.
And then there’s the collage that Cathy also sent. When I saw it in her Etsy shop I was immediately drawn to it. Symbolic, to me, of some of the ‘costumes’ that I wear. Head over to her Etsy store and pick up some booty now.
Ruffle Pants! Nobody does ruffle pants like Bettsy Kingston! To win these gorgeous undies I suggested a new design of soft denim with vintage style gingham frills. Well I was so excited when I opened the package to see that Bettsy had made my prize in my design (but better!). That’s the sort of commitment and service that this girl gives. Although made for bubs in nappies, the size 18mths-2yrs pair that I received look fabulous on a five year old! Get your toosh over to her Store now or, if you want to make your own little ruffles, you can purchase a pattern from her Bettsy Kingston MYO store. And on her blog this girl has monthly giveaways!

Quirky, modern, thought provoking! Some of the words that come to mind when I look at the work of Reread. These brooches are so easy to wear. They’re light, but sturdy. And always a conversation starter. The prices in her Etsy Store are ridiculously low, and the brooches very easy to post, so head over and purchase a bundle for future gifties! Plus, there are weekly giveaways on ReREAD’s blog!
If you’re in Brisbane this weekend check out these markets where the talented Brisstyle Etsy Street Team will be struttin their stuff. Also head over to their blog where there’s always a giveaway happening.

If you haven’t already get in quick for a giveaway of two of my Anatomical Series plates over at Aussie Handmade Giveaway – another blog where the giveaways are constant.

Most of you I know love a good thrift/op/secondhand shop. I love the magical mystery of them as you never know what you’ll find. This vintage music box cost me $2.50(AUS). I kid you not. And this is no ordinary music box. The lid lifts up to reveal a mirror and perfect opulent lining, and the side has two deep drawers. But the most beautiful thing is the music. I don’t know what the song is, but the song is long, the music so intricate and crystal clear, there’s a strength and a real beauty to it.
Yes I know I didn’t need another Mary statue. But when I see one, and it’s inexpensive, $3AUS for this darling, well I just can’t leave it behind. She must be purchased and then adorned with a top hat and made to feel at home with the other ‘girls’. This one has lovely dark skin – not as dark as the one you see beside her, all the way to the Antipodes from Montserrat, another $3 purchase.

I love decorating with my thrifty finds. One girl who does this so well is Kim from Desire to Inspire. Have a look here at her bedroom makeover.

Designer Jan Coslick, seen on Coastal Living, has managed to turn these thrift shop chairs into glamour pieces. Best of luck to you all my blog friends with the giveaways, and the bargain hunting!

Lovely prizes and wonderful Mary statue! I like the way you have it set up and I truly love your small 'Desire to Inspire' slide show.

Have to confess something to you Chrisy, I'm usually very much not a fan of slide shows or music playing in backgrounds when it comes to blogs but yours is very much the exception to the rule, your blog is amazing and tasteful and just all around an great place to visit. And I love the music you've chosen, clicking on your site is like opening a small jewelry box of treasures.

Thank you so much for sharing...

I agree with Gabbi above about how "clicking on your site is like opening a small jewelry (weird speeling it that way ;) box of treaures" :D

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!
