Quotes Poems Love

Photobucket

Once again the Melange Team had me fossicking among older art works of mine for this week's challenge - an artwork incorporating a quote. Featuring Frida Kahlo and a quote from her - Feet, why do I need them if I have wings to fly, this is a real 'mixed media' piece using inks, watercolors, acrylics, and paper tole.

And this poem I had to share. I think Frida would have liked it too. Love after Love by Derek Walcott discovered via Maureen’s blog, Sanctuaries, Dreams and Shadows.

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

featuring photographs from Krista Gabbard, Meytav, Itzemill, Feast of Fun, Woordenaar, Angry Lambie1, White Sleeve, Margarita Spain, J Macias, Miss Estrada, Mad House, Slyderma.

Gee, you're good! Love your artwork!!

I've got a favourite love poem quote....I memorised Percy Bysshe Shelley's Loves Philosophy when I was 14 and my favourite bit is this..

'what is all this sweet work worth if thou kiss not me?'

Have a good weekend :)

Fabulous Frida piece.
Love the slide show, what an interesting mixture
of people and some of those you absolutely cannot tell there is a mirror. Fantastic.

Fantastic painting…
And the poem holds such truth…

I have stopped by your blog a few times this week and each time
I have gone back to read some of your older post.
Happily, I followed your links to new blog worlds or on line stores.
You truly have a beautiful blog in heart and soul.

Thank you,
Louise

Is that your work Chrisy? It's super gorgeous - I'm a big Frida fan and really loved that massive biography about her that came out a couple of years ago (maybe more than fifteen years ago now actually). I love the way you post poetry - it really is a superb way to get atmosphere and meaning across -= so elegant! P.S. Thank you for those links to the floral rings!! They are very good aren't hey? ...and very affordable!!...hmmm... I may have to direct my partner's eyes towards the computer when I'm accidentally looking at them!! Have a lovely weekend Chisy!!

It's just soooo very lovely to have you all stop by and say hello! Yes Sam it's my work...I can't draw freehand for nuts but can copy if I'm looking at an image...and the coral yes Julianne it was an experiment with french knitting and wire...love red coral...and JN...Shelley's poetry oh yes...there's something about the rhythm of it that makes it easy to memorise...my fav is The Cloud....must go look at Love's Philisophy...and all you blogs!

That's a beautiful piece of yours Chrisy, and a great quote by Frida Kahlo. Interesting poem! I think I need to read it again...it takes a while for me to 'get' poetry sometimes. Especially when it doesn't rhyme! (that was a joke btw...my bad poetry is always criticised by friends for not rhyming ;) What a fun slideshow too! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :)
